I have been thinking a lot about transitions. And the whole concept has come up again and again with clients.
What does the word mean? Merriam Webster says it is "a change or shift from one state, subject, place, etc. to another. And, something that links one state, subject, place, etc. to another : a connecting part or piece" I think, like the picture below, the hard part is not knowing where the heck am I going to end up? What will happen to my.....( fill in the blank ) job, relationship, children, education...and who will I be when I arrive? Not knowing must be one of the very hardest things for human being. Like this picture: what is over that bridge? I don't have answers for you but what I do know is that beating yourself up, spending hours being anxious, worried...numb is not going to help. So what is one thing that does help? Grounding yourself in the ventral state - www.zoewaggoner.com/zoes-blog/ventral-anchoring-glimmering-savoring - can help. In a grounded place you can actually think: I can manage. I have resources. I can ask for help. I have options! And maybe, if you can begin to ground yourself and feel calmer, you might have some excitement!
