I love David Whyte. His poetry is understated and yet, to me, clear.
I once heard him talk about what would you like on your gravestone after you die? "She paid her bills." A bit dramatic but...what would you like carved there?
All to ask the question: are you living someone else's dream, ideas or plan? Going along but not really doing what you want?
I realized in my late 40's that I was 'staying close' to my Mom for some unspoken reason. That even though my Mom and I did not get along, I was staying fairly close. Once I realized this I was able to start making some big changes in my life: applied to and was accepted into a Master's Level Counseling program, finished that, quit my job of 15 years, went traveling in India for 6 months on my own, and finally going into the Peace Corps at the age of 50! A dream I had had since I was in my late teens.
How about you? If you need some help with this let's talk. I offer free scheduled consultations over the phone to help you decide what to do next. Call or text 360-432-1236.
