For many people sitting in silence, staying 'quiet' is very hard. The mind races often, thoughts are unclear. The body might feel jangled.
This is a body experiencing anxiety, fight or flight. It might not be high anxiety but nevertheless, if a person feels dis-regulated, out of balance, mind racing, heart racing...can't think...quiet is not a comfortable place.
And what is important to know is that when there is dis-regulation and high anxiety the brain, the ability to think and plan, has also disappeared.
This is biological and ancient: this is how our organisms/bodies stayed alive hundreds of thousands of years ago.
