LOTS and lots of people are feeling increasingly anxious as the pandemic continues, and even gets worse.
Where I live it is holding steady, but if we are not, as a community, careful, that could change.
I talk to clients all the time about anxiety. I always tell them they need to find those things that they can DO...do with their body and get out of their mind...that help them.
And when they find the things that help, write them down and post them on the refrigerator, on your phone, on the bathroom mirror. Post them so the next time you begin to feel your heart beating faster, your breath changing, your gut tighten up, you can look at the list and return to your 'thinking self' and try something. NO matter how small. A drink of water. Go outside.
First, identify where in your body you sense or feel anxiety starting and identify the sensation: tightness, burning, black hole..tingling. NOW THAT YOU KNOW THE SIGNAL, the next time you sense of feel it happening, go to your list!
You have to use to it make it work. The good news is that just like your body has been trained - unconsciously by you - to react in the same habitual way when you get stressed - you can now begin to train it to relax. To calm down.
