Years ago I remember reading a book called "Molecules of Emotion" by Candace Pert, a brilliant scientist with a long and fancy scientific title. She had worked at the National Institute of Mental Health for a number of years.
But, as I understand the story, when she published this book and supported - with evidence - the very radical idea that each of our cells had a memory...well she was not at the NIH for much longer!
She went on to become quite well-known in the energy medicine field and I first saw her in the movie "What the Bleep...".
I recommend both her book and what she has to say in the movie which is part story and part documentary.
It got me thinking about how I 'talk to my body'. What messages I send it and how, when I am mean, do my little cells react.
Over the years as I have delved ever more deeply into the body - mind connection in working with clients, I am totally convinced by the science that our 'body talk' matters.
Watch for today: what do you say to your body? Are you kind or mean or dismissive? And be curious: what is happening in each cell as you build up, tear down or denigrate the physical essence of you?
