Learning to embrace the storms of your life is easier said than done. Most of us want smooth sailing, blue skies and warm days. Ease in our lives. Ease of living, loving...relating. I think it is totally normal to want ease. And, totally unrealistic.
I have been thinking a lot lately about modeling. I have been talking to my clients about modeling. For modeling is how, as infants and children, we learn. If we grew up with parents/parent/caretaker who 'modeled' healthy living, setting realistic expectations, managing the disappointments with a sense of balance and sensibility, then we grow up with those ideas, that structure.
If we grew up with people who had no idea of balance, managing disappointment, realistic expectations in life and love, then we must learn how to do those things for ourselves.
I know that my clients do not like to hear this and yet, it is true. Because in my opinion, therapy is helping people grow up, mature, determine what is true for them and how they want to live. Not through dysfunctional intergenerational patterns, but rather through their own creation of their life. Composing a life that is true to them. To their heart and longings.
If you feel stuck in old ideas, beliefs or behaviors it might be that you could use a course correction. Call/text me at 360-432-1236. I can help - I have been there many times.
I am a catalyst for others, helping people continue, over their entire life span - preconception, conception, in the womb and after - to grow, learn, heal so that each person can live their deepest longings. This is my passion.
